Parenting

Do as I say, not as I do!

What type of role model are you as a parent?

Greg, you are too loud!

Greg, slow down!

(Am I too loud?  Am I too anxious? Am I teaching him how to have a calm spirit?)

Emmie you can’t wear that?

Emmie that outfit is not appropriate for where you are going

Emmie, you shouldn’t change who you are so that others can like you.

(Am I leaving the house inappropriately dressed.  Am I making decisions based on what others think of me.)

Children do what they see you do, whether it is positive or negative.  If they grow up noticing that you don’t read, they won’t read.  If they noticed that you have things all over the place, unorganized, unkempt.  They think its ok.  If you are in the habit of being late, they think it’s okay that others wait on them.  I know as parents we do not want to pass down bad habits to our kids and that we want them to see us in a positive light but we have to check ourselves.  They are watching!  Say what you mean, do what you mean!

What are some habits that you have and notice in your child/ren?

What are some expectations that you have for your child/ren, and you know you need to work on? (No judgment)
