Welcome World

I am Wilnia, servant of the Highest, wife to Romane, mom to Gregory and Emilie, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend and an educator.  Born on the beautiful island of Hispaniola which consist of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  Raised in Linden, NJ, currently residing in the Atlanta area.

So many has come up to me and asked how do I manage it all.  Lots of caffeine, I tend to answer.  I can’t explain it, it’s just God!  When God does so much for you, you want to give back because you realize that he will supply all of your needs.  For some time now I have felt the need to share my stories, my struggles, my relationship, my parenting, my ideas, with others but kept putting it on hold, until later.  Wanting to speak up about some of the wows in society and some hurts, some scars that I see among us, but have held back.  Questioning, who I am?  Why would people listen to me?  So I thought, if I was to add a Dr. in front of my name, maybe people would give me more credit or listen when I speak up.  So I am currently on this quest to finish up a dissertation to add that Dr. (Whoop, Whoop possible class of 2020!)  Meanwhile, marriages, relationships, families are failing all around me. 

Needless to say I am holding myself accountable by “coming out” and sharing some personal stories, some ideas, some discussions, some videos, interviews of real life survivors of certain circumstances in order to help you to pause and see perhaps yourself in some of these situations and for you to think before you act.  Yes, my family is mentioned in some of these stories and I do respect their privacy but I have told them that we can’t simply sit ideally by.  Sometimes when you are in a situation it is very hard to see the after.  If you can connect with someone who has had the experience perhaps you can have a “manual” to the situation.  Yes, we will also share some laughs and successes, such as marriages, births, graduations.

Wow, can’t believe that I am actually doing this!  You might be thinking, here we go again another blogger.  I promise this will be different.  I promise you this will be authentic, transparent, relatable, no pretense, no “perfect picture”.  So, join me and let’s tackle some of these topics that we think are “little” but yet the “elephants” in the room.
